Suburban Bullies Testimonials

– Dec 2012 –

When we first decided that we wanted an English
Bulldog puppy we spent months researching and trying
to find the best breeder. We contacted a few different
people and none of them gave us a good feeling until
Suburban Bullies. From the very first time we contacted
Scott he was nothing but professional, kind and incredibly
helpful. Meatball is our first bulldog (but definitely
not our last!) so we hada lot of questions along the way
and Scott always took the time to answer them and help us
out in any way he could. Meatball has been home with us
since January and Scott is still around to help- he really
cares about his customers and we have had nothing but a great
experience with him. Not only is the customer service from
Suburban Bullies incredible- but so are the dogs! Our vet
specializes in bulldogs and always tells us what a high
quality dog we have. Meatball is just the sweetest little
guy ever- he’s very friendly, loving and playful and has the
cutest wrinkles! We are already discussing getting him a
sibling and when the time comes for us to do that we will
definitely be coming back to Suburban Bullies!

Hi Scott, this is Jessica, me and my husband are
the ones who adopted Charlie. We just wanted to let
you know he’s doing really well. He plays a lot, eats
a lot, and is really well-behaved, and he’s grown a lot.
When I took him for his vet check up, the vet said
everything is good and he’s perfectly healthy. I have
attached some pics, so you can see how big he’s gotten.

Since I was young, I always wanted a bulldog. I promised myself that
that would be my choice of dog whenever I decided to get one. But finding the
right breeder would probably be hard to find. Luckily that wasn’t the case with me.
The first time I ran into the site, Suburbanbullies.com, I knew that this was gonna
be the choice of breeder I wanted to go with. That’s when I first met Scott. And for
everything Scott has done, I just want to take the time to thank you so much for the
new addition to our family. Not only did you make me and my family happy, but all the
help with the questions I had, I knew that Scott was a professional at what he did.
Not once would I hesitate to recommend someone to Scott. He knows what he’s talking
about when it comes to bulldogs. He has helped me out so much with all the questions
I had. So thanks again Scott, we are happy with our new bulldog, Manu. Here’s a pic of
Manu and the kids. They love him so much.

Scott, Here’s a cute pic of Dudley and Pepper. They
are making great progress on house breaking and Dudley is
learning how to speak and give high five, he is super smart.
Pepper is too interested in playing and just eating at this
point so I will need to find a different reward trigger for her;
or teach my daughter how to train her because she has become
more her dog than anyone else dog. She has helped lower my
daughter’s blood pressure so she is worth her weight in gold.
Thanks again for two of the most wonderful family members.

The Top 10 Reasons English Bulldogs are the Coolest Dogs Ever…

1aa7510fc2c18a89d76b7b2160b118ec

Georgia’s Bully babies has come up with a Top Ten list about why owning an English bulldog is probably the most cool thing you’ll ever do.   If you’ve never owned an English bulldog, you probably won’t laugh as hard.  Heck, you may not even chuckle.  But, on the other hand, if you currently own, owned one in the past, or even know an English bulldog, these will ring true.

So, without further ado, here they are:
10.  Unlike humans, wrinkles actually look good on them.

9.   Bulldog slobber was tinted green and used as slime in the 90′s Nickelodeon show, Double Dare.  I bet your neighbor can’t say that about her Yorkie.

8.   When you have a staring contest, your English bulldog will always let you win.  They’re generous like that.

7.  They are so loveable, you’ll disown your children and leave your inheritance to your bulldog.

6.  The stubbornness of the English bulldog allows you to practice (and get really good at) your debating skills.

5.  They snuggle better than any other snuggle buddy you’ll ever have.  Their kisses are like Xanax.

4.  The insane amount of snoring emitted by an English bulldog prepares you for sleeping through an F5 tornado that was spawned during the detonation of an atomic bomb next door to your house.  You will become immune to the snoring.  You will not, however, become immune to your husband’s snoring.  EVER.

3.  They are the only breed of dog that can skateboard, surf, fart, and snore…. simultaneously.

2.  English bulldogs are great vacuum cleaners and dish washers. Don’t believe me? Just drop a cookie or lay down a half-eaten plate of lasagna.

Drum roll please……

1.  The gas emitted by an English bulldog has been rated by the EPA to be a natural alternative to Napalm.  If you can survive one day with English bulldog, you can survive  guerrilla fighting in the Congo.

I truly hope you’ve enjoyed this Top 10 list. Feel free you leave your top reason in the comments below!

WHY DO BULLDOGS COST SO MUCH?

English_Bulldog_about_to_sleep

Bulldogs are a very popular and photogenic breed. Bulldogs also have that great and beautiful look whether they are a puppy or adult; it’s one breed that looks great at any age. Bulldogs usually (90%) of the time require a c-section for delivery of the puppies and artificial insemination to breed.

The cost to a breeder for a litter can run between $2000-$4000 dollars (not counting their time). Litter size average is 4. The Cost for a c-section, usually about 500.00- 750.00 assuming it is during normal vet hours. After hours, weekends and holidays will run extra. A cost to breed the dog is usually around $500-$1000 for the semen/stud service plus shipping if applies.. Additionally there is the bitch pre breeding tests, exams, x-rays, ultra sounds and the like.

Then when a litter is born most of the time they must be hand helped when feed. A breeder will spend every few hours with the litter and mother during feeding 24 hours a day for several days. Bulldogs don’t make the best mothers because they may lay on a puppy on accident and not even realize it. There is other reasons besides that but litters are at least human assisted for many days around the clock.

C-sections for bulldogs is required for several reasons like: high rates of water puppies which can’t pass through the birth canal, large head and shoulders of the puppies, stress and heat factors may cause a bulldog trouble, the ability to “PUSH” out a full litter is often to much on a bulldog and other factors. It is very time consuming compared to other breeds where every thing is taken care of by the male and female dog including the birth and delivery and raising of the litter.

This is a special breed which requires the help of humans to bring a litter to 8 weeks of age. There worth every penny and once you have been owned by bulldog you could never again be without one. Most breeders sell quality pet bulldogs for between $2000-$3000 and you can expect the breeder to be there for you with help when needed and to know what the past litters and the breeders stock shows in health problems, etc.

A good breeder will also want to keep track of the pup and will also offer you a contract to protect you both and make sure your dog is healthy or will explain its conditions. Bulldogs are very special dogs and people who own them are just as special. I want to stress that you should NEVER EVER EVER buy a puppy at a discounted price with the understanding that you will breed and give back a whole litter of puppies to the breeder in exchange of a reduced rate of buying a bulldog from them originally.

That is pure and simple robbery and any breeder who try’s to offer you that should be reported to the AKC, BCA and other sources. That is completely and fully wrong. (When I use the word breeder I do it very loosely) in this case. It is acceptable practice in some cases to allow a single puppy or two back as part of a deal and if you agree to that or your ask to do that it is fine and normal in some cases. It is also becoming more and more less popular to own a dog under CO-ownership, while it is still done and there is some benefit to it, many won’t do it and recently has become less and less accepted.

Never buy a Bulldog with registry from any source other than AKC (in the USA). Other registry groups have less standards and who knows what you may end up with, mixed breeds or something like that as there is no track record of pedigree. If your wanting a bulldog then get a bulldog, don’t accept anything less, the breed is expensive and may cost you more down the road with cherry eye surgery, patella, palate surgery, etc. So try and get a healthy bulldog from a well known breeder or breeder who loves the breed and it will show when you meet or talk with them.

They can answer any question and be very honest with you. The goal is to improve the breed, provide healthy and beautiful puppies that fall in the standard and ones to be proud to have offered. Stay clear of pet stores as they often inflate the prices by as much as 1500.00 or more and the dogs come from puppymills and often show health problems later in life. You have saved up and researched the breed then wait for the perfect bull before buying, the good part of the bulldog is that the high price often keeps people from just buying on impulse without knowing what there getting into.

Lastly, beware of “great deals” and “cheap puppies”, they may cost you a lot more in the end – not just money, but heartache too!

Happy Blogging!

Scott
